David Olejniczak
David came through the NCIM’s try-the-track program and became a regular rider at youth structured sessions before joining the Milton Revolution Cycling Club. He’s put in a ton of hard yards over the last two years and has made the jump to the Blue Group and is racing this year with Toronto Hustle’s Junior Race team, one of the best programs in the province for young racers!
Q: How did you first hear about the track?
I first heard about the velodrome by just walking in one day and being fascinated by the track. I used to drive by the velodrome lots but one day I decided to stop and come inside and I was intrigued by the track so I decided to try it out and love it ever since.
Q: How many years have you been riding the track?
I have been riding the track for 3 years now and I have enjoyed riding there every time I go as much as the first time!
Q: What is your goal for 2021 and beyond?
My goal for 2021 is to try and be competitive at Canadian Track Nationals which is sadly cancelled this year. Also, another goal will be to try and make the Canadian Junior National Team and to compete at the Track World Championships.
Q: What’s one thing you love about track cycling?
I love Track Cycling Because it is such a simple form of cycling. It is nice to just ride your bike in a space where you don’t have to worry about cars, traffic, road conditions, roots rocks etc. You can just ride your bike at the speed that you want. I also enjoy the people I know and met through the velodrome. My amazing coaches, the friends I made while training together and all relationships I made at the velodrome I am thankful for
