Fall Programming Update
Hello Track Riders
As we continue to work towards a return to full programming at the NCIM, you will have seen that some classes are going up on our new website. Re-opening is not without hiccups. We apologize for some short notice and schedule changes that have happened recently; however we are working around a major renovation to the building’s lighting system.
From the Town:
The Mattamy National Cycling Centre is undergoing a retrofit of the current lighting on the infield, which impacts the gymnasiums, cycling track and walking track. The lights will be changed from metal halides to energy efficient LEDs. Overall, this is an initiative that will lower energy costs and consumption, increase the life and provide a more positive user experience for everyone in the facility.
In the meantime, we are happy to have Beginner classes and Advanced sessions back on the calendar (we intentionally held off on starting the Advanced sessions to not clash with the return of Midweek criteriums). More programming should be going up on the calendar by the end of this week.
RACING
We are excited to announce a return to racing for 2021/2022. The NCIM Saturday Night Race Series will feature 10 races this year!
This year’s format will host youth and adult races on the same night and include Adult categories and a separate youth event – similar to what we have done in the past with the Summer Race.
The Tentative Racing Calendar is:
- Oct 16
- Nov 13
- Nov 27
- Dec 4
- Dec 18
- Jan 22
- Feb 5
- Feb 19
- March 19
- Apr 2
We will be posting more details about what to expect from the race series in the coming weeks.
Cheers,
Chris Reid
