Between 1981-1984 Steve road with GS Mangonie where he was mentored and trained like a pro by founder Fred Mengonie. In 1985 Steve made his debut riding at the Tour de France as a first year pro with the La Vie Claire Team.

Throughout his career Steve has brought recognition to Canada on the international cycling stage. He’s won a silver medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games Road Race, and a bronze at the Professional Road World Championship in Barcelona, Spain. Over his career Steve has participated in 11 Tours from 1985 to 1995. In 2005 he was inducted to the Canadian Olympic Sport Hall of Fame and Canadian Sport Hall of Fame.

Best racing result?  Second in a semi-pro elimination race at Lexus Velodrome.  “I got on the wheel of a confused rider who thought it was a tempo race, and it was almost good enough for the win!”
